Create a Cheery Easter or Springtime Table
Spring is upon us, so it makes sense to start thinking about Easter festivities or hosting a celebratory Spring dinner party. CBH is here to breakdown the chosen Easter table items and the corresponding theme with five easy steps…
The general vision is a streamlined prettiness with some dainty fillers that are traditional but cheery. Consider what some quintessential spring themes are and create accordingly — spring flowers, pastels, playful bunnies with strewn grass, candies, etc. Since the longer spring days and popping flowers bring new and rejuvenating energy, CBH decided to go fresh and natural but elevated.
Yellow is the quintessential springtime color and meshes well with other springtime colors like pink, blue, and green so you don’t have to confine yourself just to yellow. Here, yellow almost acts as a neutral bringing all the elements together in a subtle but impactful way. To start, CBH picked a striped yellow tablecloth because bold stripes are captivating with just enough design, but also nice and casual. Simple yellow and white dinner plates play off the tablecloth nicely without busying the table. Glass tumblers and wine glasses with yellow rims round out the yellow table settings and offer just enough flair. White linen ruffled napkins help to tone down the intensity of the yellow and the ruffles add a sweet delicate touch.
Formality — CBH is a strong believer in a formal Easter or springtime table. Yes to silver and yes to your special china! But formal doesn’t have to mean stuffy. Instead of pulling out your grandmother’s silver, reach for a more modern set that will compliment the bold stripes; this Puiforcat set has some heft but remain sleek to pair well with the stripes. Next, the vintage silver Cartier baskets are the perfect dressed up but playful accent — you can fill them with a variety of candies, grass and blown quail eggs, or flowers. CBH envisions them filled with speckled malted chocolate balls in a variety of pastel colors (specifically these from Bissinger’s Paris). To let the other table accents have their moments, CBH chose a set of silver shot glasses to use as flower vases (a dainty glass set would be lovely, too). A couple seasonal buds in each will liven up the table and add lots of great texture without taking over.
Spring is here so it’s time to bring the outside in. Your table will be more inviting and captivating if there are sweet visual nods to nature, hence the variety of veggies and boxwood garland. The ceramic vegetable knife rests are fun and inject some extra color, while the vegetable Limoges add a sophisticated sweetness. To round out the table CBH went with a preserved boxwood garland to add some greenery; this type of garland tends to work well on any shaped table. The shot glass bud vases may then be nestled in and around the garland.
Handmade accent — not pictured above is a handmade accent for your table. Handmade accents help make the occasion feel special and your guests especially welcomed. Placecards are an easily made accent that don’t feel over the top. Quick DIY: blow white eggs or quail eggs and fasten a pretty bow on top to use as a placecard. You could go one step further and decoupage the eggs and your guests could have a little gift to go home with. Or, make up some cute baggies of traditional Easter candies for your guests to take home.
